Got a few quick questions. On my way to work today, my car decided to break down on me, though ironically I broke down about 500 feet from a reputable Nissan/Z shop near my house, so I rolled it in off there. I don't have the time/room/tools to work on my car anymore, so I decided to have him take a stab at it tomorrow (though my wallet will be hurting). He thinks the problem is just the clutch master/slave and maybe a bad clutch, but he said he won't know for sure tomorrow. I wanted to see if you guys had any input on what the problem might be, what I might expect, etc. Here's what happened: Yesterday, I was driving home and noticed that my shifter had sunken down a little bit. I already have a short throw shifter, but it slipped down even lower than it normally is, and made it nearly impossible to shift into 2/4/reverse. If I pulled it up (which I could), it seemed to re-seat it self or something, and allowed me to shift normally. However, the rest of the way home, I had to hold the shifter up a bit to make sure it didn't depress and make shifting even worse. I was planning on getting it checked out soon, but hadn't had them time (since yesterday!) Then, today, while driving back to work, I got stuck in 1st gear, and was unable to shift out. The clutch was responding but the gear was stuck. After trying to get it out, the clutch went limp and depressing it did absolutely nothing. It pulled out into neutral and I then coasted off the side of the road. After that, the clutch was totally unresponsive, and there was no resistance until the very last inch before the floor. I could shift gears when the car was off, but when it was on I was unable to move anything. The shifter is a bit hard to move around too, harder than normal. Are these two related? What do you think happened? Pretty sure something with the hydraulics is messed up (the cylinders), but the shifter was worrying me too. Could it be something with the tranny too? :( Any input would be greatttly appreciated, I'd like to know what I"m getting into before I stop by the shop tomorrow morning. Thanks...
